Professional Experience

Rachael Loukonen is a shareholder of the firm and has practiced law since 2003.  Rachael focuses her practice on trial work, litigation, and dispute resolution, representing businesses and individuals in matters involving complex property, commercial business, construction, and employment issues.

Rachael’s work includes pretrial motions, preliminary hearings, depositions, arbitrations, mediations, witness and expert preparation, trials, and appellate proceedings.  Rachael regularly counsels and meets with clients to assess their legal needs, strategize with clients, and determine how the firm may assist.

Rachael was recognized by Gulfshore Business Magazine as one of Southwest Florida’s top 40 leaders under 40 years old and was named a Rising Star in the 2010 and 2011 edition of Florida Super Lawyers.

Representative Matters

  • Represented a client in arbitrating and resolving a complex property dispute.
  • Sat as first chair in a trial involving a contentious landlord/tenant action.
  • Represented a construction company in a two-week bench trial involving a complex construction dispute between a general contractor and a subcontractor related to work performed on a high-rise condominium building.
  • Sat as second chair in a one-week trial involving a multi-million dollar property dispute. 
  • Sitting as first chair, represented a construction company in a two-day jury trial involving an employment dispute regarding unpaid overtime.  
  • Represented a hotel owner in a one-week jury trial involving architectural liability for work provided by the architect to the client’s hotel property. 
  • Argued before the Second District Court of Appeals concerning whether the clients, the high bidders at a foreclosure sale, would retain title to a million dollar home.  Briefed the Second District Court of Appeals and argued against counsel for the mortgage companies. 
  • Represents construction companies concerning construction defects and resolving construction disputes on high-rises and multi-story condominium developments. 

Attorney Publications/Presentations

Rachael co-authored Chapter 3, Slander of Title, in the Florida Real Property Litigation, 6th Edition, The Florida Bar (2011).

Rachael served as a Distinguished Faculty Member for the Florida Gulf Coast University Small Business Development Center’s Entrepreneur’s Law School 2010 and 2011.
